Modeling Profitability-Influencing Risk Factors for Construction Projects: A System Dynamics Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study addressed the complexity involved in integrating causative risk factors influencing construction profitability. Most of existing studies cover individual effects profitability factors. Very few focus on systematic impact without incorporating and associated dynamics, presenting a gap targeted by current study. The aimed to assess interrelations interdependencies between (PIRF), through systems thinking (ST) system dynamics (SD) modeling. SD approach was used evaluate integrated impacts profitability-influencing categories (PIRC) projects. affecting were identified comprehensive literature review. These ranked using content analysis, categorized into significant issues. Through 250 structured surveys 15 expert opinion meetings, path for quantitative qualitative evaluations prepared. Following these investigations, causal loop diagram (CLD) established ST technique, effect quantified finds rising cost material, supply chain process, payment issues, planning scheduling problems, financial difficulties, effective control manpower equipment resources as most critical PIRFs. PIRFs PIRC helps field professionals with factors, diagnosing regarding decision-making policy formulation. For researchers, it presents list that can be investigated detail, holistic interrelationships established.

system dynamics approach for construction risk analysis

presence of risks and uncertainties inherent in project development and implementation playssignificant role in poor project performance. thus, there is a considerable need to have an effective riskanalysis approach in order to assess the impact of different risks on the project objectives. a powerful riskanalysis approach may consider dynamic nature of risks throughout the life cycle of the pr...

Equitable Risk Allocation in Construction Projects: Fuzzy Bargaining Game Approach

An equitable risk allocation between contracting parties plays a vital role in enhancing the performance of the project. This research presents a new quantitative risk allocation approach by integrating fuzzy logic and bargaining game theory. Owing to the imprecise and uncertain nature of players’ payoffs at different risk allocation strategies, fuzzy logic is implemented to determine the value...

Risk Analysis for Design-Build Construction Projects: A Simplified Approach

Construction Projects are being implemented under different contract systems in the Midwest. Negotiated design-build has been a popular contract system in recent years. It provides various advantages through entailing the contractor to be responsible for the whole project. However, design-build turns out to be risky system for both owners and contractors unless the risks are identified, quantif...

System Dynamics Aproach For Quantitative Risk Allocaion

Allocation of construction risks between clients and their contractors has a significant impact on the total construction costs. This paper presents a system dynamics (SD)-based approach for quantitative risk allocation. Using the proposed SD based approach, all the factors affecting the risk allocation process are modeled. The contractor’s defensive strategies against the one-sided risk alloca...
